Desde que me conheço, ou melhor, que me lembro ser gente, senti que tinha de facto herdado da minha Avó paterna uma costela inglesa. Não sei se é por isso que Londres sempre me encantou ou se é o facto de o inglês ser para mim quase uma primeira língua. a verdade é que Londres sempre foi (e continua a ser) a minha cidade de eleição. Já pedi a conta ao número de vezes que lá fui: desde passeio, trabalho, visita a familiares ou puro turismo, muitas são as razões que me levaram a esta terra de Sua Majestade.

Since I have known myself, or better said, since I remember being someone, I have felt that I have in fact inherited my grandmother's English bone. I don't know if that is the reason why London has always fascinated me or if it the fact that English is for me almost like a first language, but the fact is that London has always been (and still is) my favorite city. I have lost count of how many times I have been there: sightseeing, working, visiting relatives or plain fun, many have been the reasons that brought me to this Her Majesty's land.

É difícil definir exactamente o que me atrai: se as montras cuidadosamente arranjadas, se o descobrir de produtos ainda raros ou inexistentes em Portugal, se a descoberta de algum edíficio ou recanto novo de cada vez que volto a este cidade. Mas a verdade é que o fascínio se mantém.

I find it really difficult to define what it is about this city that attracts me: the marvelously arranged window displays, the finding of new products still rare or unavailable in Portugal, the discovery of a new building or corner yet unknown each time I go back to this city. But the truth is that I am still fascinated.

Apesar de todos os lugares novos que descubro em cada visita, há locais a que nunca deixo de ir: John Lewis, Selfridges, Tikki, Cath Kidston, Liberty, King's Road, Banana Republic e muito, muito mais! Espero descobrir tantos novos locais encantadores como desta minha última visita! E se nunca foi a Londres tente fazer uma visita em breve e descubra o que se esconde por detrás do nevoeiro desta cidade.

Inspite of all the new places I find with each visit, there are places I always go too: John Lewis, Selfridges, Tikki, Cath Kidston, Liberty, King's Road, banana republic and many, many more! I hope that on my next visit I will find as many enchanting places as I did this time! And if you have never been to London try to pay it a visit and discover what hides behind the fog of this city.

Just to say I am alive...

I apologize for this quick post and for it to be in English, but time these days is scarce.
Christmas came and went, the rush and madness usual to someone that has in this festive season the pick in a year working load. The thing is Christmas passed but the madness stayed.
I honestly don't recall having such a busier beginning of the year.
I had decided that after Christmas I was going to have some well deserved days off. Didn't happen! Then it was after New Year. No again. Then it was going to be after inventory stock was done. Nope again. So basically I have given up on any kind of rest and since the beginning of January my nights of sleep are resumed to 3 miserable unrested hours!
I have so much to share with you here in the blog but I am afraid that when I finally have time to do it will be Easter or Christmas again!
So, without any editing here are some of my Christmas photos and decorations!

The Martha Stewart boxes had my special and secret recipe of roasted peanuts I learned to bake with my Aunt Anita. I am sworn to secrecy about this recipe and I love it that it is our secret!

The styrofoam gingerbread cupcake was a little damaged already but it still had a place in our table.

Another cupcake made by Francisca fromCupcake. Since it is Styrofoam as well, I am keeeping it for next year!

Every year we take a photo of the children at our house just before we leave to have dinner on Christmas Eve. I love the fun and happiness in this photo, the first Christmas with our 4 children!

And on the first day of the year we always take this photo at our house in Guimarães. We have to take a lot of them because there is always someone looking funny or with the eyes closed. This one is my favourite because Leonor seems to be reading the sentence on the wall that is in fact a guidance in our life: Family, a journey to forever.

Sweet Pink ::: Happy Thoughts

Queria muito ter feito este post ontem mas o tempo não deu para tudo.

O mês de Novembro cá em casa é um mês muito especial, cheio de aniversários, razão pela qual estamos em festa há mais de uma semana e em festa vamos continuar mais uns dias. Entre os anos e os meios anos, estas semanas são de facto especiais. Como, por motivos profissionais, acabo por nunca ter tempo para grandes decorações de festas em Novembro, hoje e porque estamos em festa, queria partilhar com vocês estas imagens de uma outra festa que fiz à uns meses atrás: o Sweet Pink baby shower.

I really wanted to have made this post yesterday but time didn't stretch!

November at our home is a very special month, filled with birthdays, which explains why we have been partying for more than a week now and will keep on partying for a couple of  days more. Between anniversaries and half anniversaries, these weeks are in fact special. Due to professional reasons, I end up not having a lot of time for party decorations in November so today, because we are celebrating, I wanted to share with you the images of another party I did a few months back: Sweet Pink baby shower.



Adorei pensar, repensar e executar cada pequeno pormenor deste dia. E foi tão bom poder fazer uma decoração para mim mesma toda cor-de-rosa! Este foi o bolo que a Francisca da Cupcake fez para mim. Agora que a minha pequenina já cá está, espero um dia mostrar-lhe como festejamos e preparamos a sua chegada!

I loved thinking, re-thinking and executing every small detail of that day. And it was so good being able to make a pink decoration for myself! This cake was made by Francisca from Cupcake. Now that my little girl is here I hope one day I can show her how we celebrated and prepared her arrival!

E ainda fui surpreendida pela Mané que fez estas t-shirts para os meus rapazes: I love my little sister. Foi uma tarde muito bem passada e agora que a nossa princesa já tem meio ano, mais dia menos dia, tenho de começar a pensar na festa do seu primeiro aniversário! Com o défice de cor-de-rosa que tive até agora, acho que vamos ter mais uma festa pink.... não sei se ela não vai ficar a detestar a cor quando for um bocadinho mais velha!

My friend Mané surprised me with this t-shits for my boys: I love my little sister. It was a delightful afternoon and now that our princess has 6 months, soon I will have to start thinking about her first birthday anniversary! And with the lack of pink I have had thru out the years, I think we might have another pink party.....I have a feeling that she won't like that color very much when she grows up!

Felicidade :::Happiness

Começo por este post em atraso pois foi sem sobra de dúvidas o ponto alto da minha vida nos últimos tempos!
Quando eu casei, há 16 anos atrás (não, não é engano) os meus Pais e Sogros juntaram-se para fazer um vídeo da nossa vida desde o nascimento até esse dia. O filme terminava com uma fotografia de ambos (eu e o meu marido, claro) tirada um mês antes no casamento de uns amigos nossos e com a frase que dizia algo assim: "que a alegria, felicidade, serenidade e paz que esta imagem transmite, seja uma constante na vossa vida". Acho que estas imagens não ficam muito longe dessa mesma sensação de paz e felicidade.

I begin (recovering) with this post because this was without a shadow of a doubt  the highlight of my life lately.
When I got married 16 years ago (no, it is not a mistake) my parents and in-laws got together to make a video about our life, since we were born until that day more less. The video ended with a photo of us both (me and my husband, of course) taken at a friend's wedding a month earlier and a sentence that goes more less like this: "that the joy, happiness, serenity and peace that this image shows remains a constant part of your life". I think these photos are not far from that same sense of peace and happiness.
