Na minha recente viagem aos EUA, passei uns dias em Salt Lake City. Um dos propósitos dessa visita era aprender algumas técnicas de quiting num delicioso lugar chamado
Quilters Haven. E para qualquer amante ou até mesmo curioso nestas andanças da agulha e linha, este local é um verdadeiro céu! A Joni, a dona da loja (à direita na imagem) é uma verdadeira simpatia e poço de conhecimento! E nós, as alunas não podíamos ter aproveitado mais!
In my recent trip to USA I spent a couple of days in Salt lake City. One of the purposes of my visit was to learn some quilting techniques in a most delicious store called Quilters Haven. And for any lover or even mere interested in the art of the needle and thread, this place is a real heaven. Joni, the store owner (on the right at the photo) is really nice and also a well of knowledge! And we, the students, were really eager to learn!
Eu, a Tiffani e a Rosália tínhamos já combinado que o pagamento da aula seria feito em géneros, por isso levamos de Portugal algumas caixas de cartão forradas a tecido e claro está, tecidos tradicionais Portugueses como as nossas fabulosas Chitas e ainda alguns retalhos de chintz com já alguma patine!
Me, Tiffani and Rosalia had agreed with Joni that the payment for the class would be made in products, so we brought from Portugal some handcrafted card boxes covered with fabric and, of course, some Portuguese traditional fabric like our fabulous Chitas and some pieces of chintz with a vintage touch!
Já é a minha segunda visita a esta loja e sempre que entro lembro-me dos filmes em que de repente se solta uma criança numa loja de doces e ela devora tudo. Como a entendo! Também eu me apetecia trazer cada pedacinho de tecido já quiltado, transformado em lindíssimos quilts que cobrem todas as paredes da imensa loja.
This was my second visit to this shop and every time I go in I remember those movies where all of the sudden a child is set loose in a candy shop and she eats everything. How I understand her! I wished I could bring every bit of quilted fabric, transformed in gorgeous quilts that cover the walls of the store.
O trabalho é verdadeiramente único, colorido ou em tons pastel, formando blocos idênticos ou não, quiltado com formas geométricas ou não.
The work is truly amazing and unique, colouful or in pastel shades, forming even blocks or not, quilted in geometrical shapes or not.
Esta manta foi a que mais admirei nesta visita! Está maravilhosamente executada, os tecidos são lindíssimos e o quilting feito nela é simplesmente genial! Quem me dera já ser capaz de trabalhar assim!
This quilt was the one I admired the most in this visit! It is marvelously executed, the fabrics are gorgeous and the quilting applied is pure genius! I wish I could work like that!
